What is the difference between a pallet, a crate, and a wooden box?
This is one of our most frequently asked questions. Here is the simple breakdown:
Pallet: A flat platform used to support goods for forklift handling. Pallets are open structures with top deck boards and bottom stringers. They are ideal for bulk shipping and easy movement.
Crate: A shipping container with a base (similar to a pallet) plus sides made of wood. Crates enclose the product, providing greater protection from physical damage and environmental factors.
Wooden Box: Similar to a crate but typically built with tighter board spacing and often a solid top panel. Boxes offer the highest level of protection and are often used for valuable or sensitive cargo.
